Rajah Vyner Brooke was the third White Rajah of Sarawak. The White Rajahs were a dynastic monarchy of the English Brooke family, who founded and ruled the Kingdom of Sarawak, located on the island of Borneo, from 1841 to 1946.
In his will Rajah Vyner Brooke decreed, as part of Cession Agreement with the British government, his intention to allocate funds to a trust that would benefit the Rajah’s (civil) Servants and natives of Sarawak seeking to be educated in the United Kingdom. The Rajah of Sarawak Fund is therefore primarily dedicated to providing financial support to students from Sarawak undertaking tertiary education in the U.K. The Fund is also responsible for ensuring that the three Rajahs’ graves at St. Leonard’s Church, Sheepstor, continue to be well-maintained.
